When we spoke, Tom described knowing very early on that Harriet was different. While she took her time to trust what was unfolding between them, he carried a quiet certainty that their lives were moving towards one another.
Girl tells the story of those early moments — awkward smiles, unspoken feelings, growing intimacy — and the gradual realisation that something extraordinary was taking shape. Inspired by the warmth, intimacy and storytelling of Ed Sheeran's early acoustic work, this song was written after spending time learning about James and Katie's journey together.
What stood out wasn't a dramatic love story, but something much rarer — the feeling that they simply made each other's lives better.
From a group holiday where they first fell for one another in Amsterdam, to building a life side by side, their story was full of small moments that carried enormous meaning. The more we spoke, the clearer it became that this wasn't a relationship built on grand gestures, but on friendship, trust, laughter and the quiet certainty that they had found their person.
At the heart of the song sits a simple realisation:
"I don't need anything more."
Not because life is perfect, but because finding the right person changed what mattered.
To honour Katie's Scottish roots, the song also features a subtle Scottish influence woven into the end of the arrangement — a small but meaningful nod to her family, heritage and the journey that brought them together.
